Our Nutricia Research on Early Life Nutrition
The main goal of Nutricia research is to develop a better understanding of the special nutritional requirements of the first 1,000 days of life. Our research into the nutrition of mothers during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as infant and toddler nutrition is designed to give all children the best possible start in life.
We’ve been doing pioneering work into breast milk research for over 40 years in order to give babies a healthy start in life. Nutricia research into early life nutrition is focussed on the first 1,000 days of nutrition from pregnancy to toddlerhood, because we know that this phase of early life nutrition has a major influence on a baby’s development and future health. (ENP stands for “early life nutrition programming”).
Our 400 experts, including physicians, nutritionists, chemists and biologists conduct research into the special nutritional needs of pregnant women, breastfeeding women, babies and toddlers. A special focus is the importance of breast milk; whereby the development of the immune system and the brain, the development of allergies, digestion, and growth and development are all key research areas.
Our Nutricia research on early life nutrition shows that the most important period of influence of early life nutrition is during the first 1,000 days, counted from conception to the child’s second birthday. This is the period of the fastest growth and development of the central building blocks of the body, particularly the metabolism, brain and immune system.
In order to conduct even better research into the effect of nutrition on development, our parent company built the ultra-modern “Nutricia Research Centre” in Utrecht. Here the scientific network plays a crucial role: The centre works with more than 200 universities, research institutes and hospitals from Aachen, Germany to Zhengzhou, China.
Combined with 40 years of knowledge about breast milk, all of the results obtained by our Nutricia researchers integrated into all of our products and services to support you as parent lay the foundations for your baby’s future health from today.
